An ever-popular fruit, the orange is believed to have originated in southern China, south east Asia or the north east of India. It subsequently became associated with the Mediterranean, Italian traders having brought the first batches over to the region as long ago as 1450. Initially used as a herbal remedy, oranges were later grown by the wealthy for food. Today, orange peel has a vast array of accepted uses.
