History and background
The history of lime fruit is a tale of exploration, trade, and innovation. Limes are believed to have originated in Southeast Asia where wild varieties still grow to this day. The fruit was highly valued for its acidity, flavour and medicinal properties. As trade and colonisation expanded, limes where introduced to new regions, including the Middle East, Africa and the Mediterranean. The Arabs played as significant role in spreading limes and their cultivation. The Portuguese, who established trade routes with India and Southeast Asia, introduced limes into Europe in the 16th century. Limes were introduced to the Americas but Spanish and Portuguese explorers and today limes are grown in many tropical and subtropical regions around the world.
General Use
These 100% natural dried lime slices are ideal for garnishing gin or other cocktails, distilling, baking and food decorations, crafting into scented wreaths and much more. As with lime peel, they can be used for the same purposes. However, whole slices tend to be used where a decorative effect is required.
Increasingly, they are being used by bars, pubs, hotels and restaurants to decorate drinks and cocktails.

FAQs
The shelf life can vary. Always refer to the best-before-date on the label. In general, if they’re stored correctly, they can last up to two to three years.
Ideally, you will want to store these in an airtight container that is kept in a dry and cool place. This can help keep the humidity out and ensure that they last as long as possible.
You can use these for a number of things that include, but aren’t limited to, drink decorations, tea and mulled drink infusions, and fragranced products for the house, such as potpourri.
They have a number of advantages over fresh slices, including longevity, convenience and aesthetics. They can look even more appealing than fresh slices, giving the beverage a ‘rustic’ look. Many establishments prefer them as they require less preparation than fresh limes, which need to be sliced, stored properly, and replaced frequently. Using dried fruit slices ultimately reduces food waste.
Absolutely – they’re often added to potpourri mixes. If you love the aroma of limes or citrus fruits, you’ll love our dried slices.
You can expect about 450 to 500 slices per 1kg.
