Description

Mugwort, also known as Artemisia vulgaris, is a perennial plant that belongs to the Asteraceae family. It is native to Europe, Asia, and North Africa, but can also be found in other parts of the world due to its widespread cultivation.
The plant usually grows up to 1 – 2 meters in height, with erect, woody stems covered in fine, silvery hairs. Its leaves are alternate, deeply lobed, and dark green on the upper surface, while the lower surface may appear whitish or gray due to the fine hairs. The leaves also have a distinct aroma when crushed, often described as somewhat sage-like.
Mugwort produces clusters of small, greenish-yellow flowers that bloom from late summer to early fall. These flowers are arranged in panicles or spikes and can attract various pollinators, such as bees and butterflies.
