How to Use Chicory Root
Chicory root can be baked, ground, and used as a coffee substitute and food additive. Since the 21st century, inulin, an extract from the root, has been used in food manufacturing as a sweetener and source of dietary fibre.
As well as making a nutritious (and caffeine-free) alternative to coffee, chicory root can also be ground with other spices to brew a warming tea or blended into a smoothie. In food, it’s commonly found in fibre and protein bars. Due to its inulin content, which is thought to act as a prebiotic, it’s also added to supplements.

FAQs
Chicory root is a plant that belongs to the dandelion family and is native to Europe and Asia. The leaves, buds and roots are all edible.
Chicory root is known to be low in fat, cholesterol, sodium and calories. As it’s naturally caffeine-free, it’s a healthy alternative to regular coffee. Chicory is also a rich source of beta-carotene, a natural source of vitamin A.
In its raw form, chicory is bitter. To unlock the coffee-like flavour, simply roast them, and you’ll have a slightly sweet, caramelised and nutty taste with a coffee aroma.
We make it easy to bulk buy, with varying bag sizes, including weights of 1 kg, 5 kg, and 25 kg.
